WHAT WE DO

Boiler Economizer Manufacturer

As a leading manufacturer of boiler economizers, Industrial Boilers America prioritizes designs that maximize enthalpy recovery and enhance boiler efficiency. Our economizers are frequently integrated into heat recovery steam generators within combined-cycle power plants. Proper sizing of economizers is crucial, considering factors such as flue gas volume, temperature, maximum allowable pressure drop through the stack, and the type of fuel used in the boiler. We collaborate closely with our customers to tailor designs to their specific applications, aiming to deliver cost savings that expedite their return on investment.

What is a Boiler Economizer?

In the world of industrial boilers, auxiliary equipment plays a vital role in enhancing both efficiency and safety. Among these crucial components, the boiler economizer stands out as one of the most important pieces of equipment. Picture it as a sort of tubular heat exchanger, strategically placed to warm up the water headed for the steam drum before it even gets there. This small but mighty device is a game-changer when it comes to maximizing overall boiler efficiency. How? The economizer works its magic by capturing and utilizing the heat from the flue gas before it dissipates into the air, significantly boosting thermal efficiency.

A boiler economizer is like the ultimate energy saver attached to an industrial boiler. It harnesses the heat from the boiler’s exhaust gases to give the cold water that fills it a toasty head start. This simple yet ingenious process translates to serious energy savings.

When it comes to HRSGs (Heat Recovery Steam Generators), the water journey begins with a stop at the boiler economizer, where it gets a nice warm-up session. Then it moves on to the boiler and finally to the superheater. But the economizer isn’t just about heating things up; it also acts as a safeguard, preventing the boiler from getting flooded with water that’s too chilly to boil, considering the flow rates and boiler design. It basically makes sure everything runs smoothly and optimally.

OUR CAPABILITIES

TYPES OF BOILER ECONOMIZERS

There are two main types of boiler economizers.

Non-condensing economizer

The non-condensing economizer is heat exchanger coils, usually finned in the form of a spiral and are inside the flue gas duct near the exit region of the boiler. By installing a non-condensing economizer, you can potentially raise your overall steam system efficiency and heat recovery by 2% to 4%.

Condensing economizer

The condensing economizer can improve waste heat recovery by cooling the flue gas below its dew point, which is typically around 135°F for products of combustion of natural gas. By installing a condensing economizer, you can potentially improve your overall steam system efficiency and heat recovery by up to 10%.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

It is a tubular heat transfer surface used to preheat boiler feed water before it enters the steam drum. The economizer in a boiler plays a key role in achieving high overall boiler thermal efficiency by recovering the energy from the flue gas before it is exhausted into the atmosphere. This improves the boiler system’s overall thermal efficiency.

There are two main types of boiler economizers, which include non-condensing economizers and condensing economizers.

Economizers are recommended but not strictly required for all boiler installations. Larger industrial boilers benefit most from fuel cost savings.

Proper sizing considers factors like boiler size/rating, fuel type, allowable draft loss, desired feedwater temperatures, and space constraints.

Regular soot blowing is needed to remove soot buildup on heat transfer surfaces. Periodic inspection and cleaning of the economizer tubes is also recommended.
